Full support goes beyond the patient’s emotional and physical needs. The family needs to know that the patient lives a dignified life. When caregivers live with the patient, both need that dignified life.
Good Samaritan offers housekeeping to ensure the home remains a place of pride for the family.
The dementia journey is difficult for all. When it ends, either with the placement of the patient in a personal care home or, unfortunately, with their passing, the family is emotionally spent.
Sometimes, the patient lived alone and received care in their home. In other cases, the patient’s partner cared for them in their joint home. In either event, further support may be welcome.
Good Samaritan can continue to support the family with the following services:
- Deep cleaning: Caring for a dementia patient, especially through the palliative care stage, takes a severe toll on the home. Good Samaritan will clean and reorganize the home restoring it to full functionality.
 - Downsizing: The family may need to prepare the residence for sale. Caregivers who will continue to live in the home will often wish to rearrange it.
